mac attacked- literally

August 26, 2015

So in my last post, I mentioned something that “happened” to me on my way to Montclair Bread Co. Well, I was mac attacked. Literally, I was walking down the street and right in front of me was a “gourmet cheesery” called Mac Attack and I was stopped dead in my tracks, needing cheese.

After I indulged in some really good donuts, I walked up and down the street so that I could “digest” and prepare for my next indulgence. I just couldn’t go home without trying macaroni and cheese. I first ordered the “white truffle mac”. This is made with parmesan cheese and truffle.

The mac and cheese is made with classic elbow macaroni that is perfectly cooked. The pasta is LOADED with cheese. I mean there wasn’t one piece of pasta that was not covered in salty, cheesy, creamy goodness. It tasted like it took hours to make. Except I only had to wait about 5 minutes for it. The mac and cheese was covered with garlic-y bread crumbs. It was a really good twist on the traditional baked mac and cheese. I love getting the crunchy bread crumbs on top of the creamy cheese. It’s the perfect warm, soul nurturing food.

First bite and I knew it was going to be amazing. When cheese is melting off of pasta like that, you can never go wrong.

I also ordered a grilled blt grilled cheese. I love grilled cheese in general but I wanted something with a little more substance. The bacon is actually turkey bacon and it was cooked perfectly. It was thin slices and provided the perfect crunch. Also on the sandwich were the traditional tomatoes and lettuce. Since this was a grilled cheese it included cheddar cheese as well as an aioli sauce.

Honestly, what made the sandwich was the multigrain bread. It was perfectly toasted, the appropriate thickness and I just love the crunch of the grains throughout bread.

I definitely would not mind getting mac attacked again. There’s a whole menu of things I would LOVE to try. Check it out here: Mac Attack Cheesery menu
