breaking bread

What better way to spend the holidays than by breaking bread with the ones you love? Breaking bread is an easy way to make peace, show kindness, build friendships, and share stories with others. It’s simple but thoughtful.

So where should you go in order to put such positivity into the universe?

Take a ride to Mediterraneo Bakery in Bound Brook, NJ. This bakery is top notch when it comes to bread and pastries. I’ve had their bread twice in the past week and it’s just one of those things you cannot say “no” too. It’s always baked fresh and there are MANY varieties to choose from. (Literally an entire wall of bread to choose from.)

I particularly like a good semolina bread. This bread is a beautiful, golden color. It is super crunchy out the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. I really like the bread with the sesame seeds as it adds a special nutty crunch to the bread.

So what do you do with all this bread?

break the bread

Cut it up. Drizzle with some olive oil and sprinkle with black pepper. Throw it under the broiler for a couple minutes.

Make some fresh croutons for your favorite salad.

Or cut off a piece and make a sandwich with it.

The shop also bakes up perfect bites of your favorite pastries. I haven’t had these yet but I’m excited for later!
